Olivia is a freelance journalist and photographer covering a range of beats including climate, global health, human rights and migration. She is based in Beirut and covers stories across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Her photos and one of her long-form investigations have been nominated for awards, including The Amnesty Awards in 2024.
She has a background in on-the-ground reporting and worked as The Economist's central Africa correspondent for 3 years, based in DR Congo. In this time she covered 5 elections, an Ebola outbreak and the ever-worsening conflict in eastern DRC. Olivia has worked as a photographer for Reuters across Africa and her pictures have appeared in The New York Times, BBC, Al Jazeera, Geographical Magazine, The Sunday Times and elsewhere. She was also part of an award-winning investigations team, SourceMaterial, in London where she made short films alongside BBC Arabic Investigations and Sky News.
